RE: Timber wall/metal wall?
A timber construction wall is the "traditional" way of constructing a lightweight partition (or structural) wall out of timber studs. This is then covered on both sides by sheets of plasterboard.

A metal construction wall is a newer, potentially quicker and lighter way of erecting partition walls. The wood is replaced by metal studs and sole plates. This are very lightweight and are either screwed, crimped or clipped together. These are usually manufactured by the plasterboard manufacturers. This again then is covered on both sides by sheets of plasterboard.

Drylining is using sheets of plasterboard as opposed to using a wet plaster to skim a wall.

Dot and dab is a method of fixing plasterboard sheets to a solid wall i.e brick or block. Instead of using a mechanical fixing i.e screws or nails, the plasterboard is fixed up by using "dabs" of plaster which are stuck to the existing wall and then the plasterboard is pressed onto these and this provides the adhesion to the wall.

Hope that helps.

RE: Timber wall/metal wall?
The difference between a timber construction wall and metal contruction wall is that one is made of timber and the other is made from metal.

A dry liner is a trademan who installs dry lining.
Dot and Dab is a form of lining solid concrete / masonry / etc with dots of gypsum adhesive and plasterboard fixed to it.
