Help solving why cigarette smells coming through from neighbours wall
We've just moved to a ground floor flat in a small 1960s block. After a week the kitchen started smelling really strongly of cigarettes - the windows have been shut so it isn't cigarette fumes drifting in from outside the window. I'm sure it is coming through the adjoining internal wall with my neighbour next door - An old lady who smokes quite heavily.

My housing association aren't helping. They say its a solid wall and there's no way cigarette smoke can leak through the adjoining wall.

The plasterwork on the wall has been damaged where the smoke smells strongest. This was where some electricity cables had been installed. And further down there are 2 old rusty pipes that are exposed from inside the wall on ground level.

Is this shared ducting? Is this why the neighbours fag smells are coming through the wall?
I tried to upload some pics as attachments. I click attachments from file, add them and update but its not working
